The original Scrapbook I used for my 2006 around-the-world trip was basically built from scratch using flash and PHP. It served me well and wasn’t bad considering it was made by me, but it definitely wasn’t perfect.
I have now finally finished manually porting the pages over to this blog in all their glory. OK so its basically a way for me to relive the past, but if you want to be reminded of what you missed out on, you can see all my posts in the RTW category.
Tag links also now work, so you can click on the more specific tags at the bottom of each post for anything tagged with that link, opposed to categories on the right-hand side. Eg, clicking on GABBS will return all the posts where Gabby is mentioned or PHIL will bring up our time in Edinburgh and Greece for example
Some people also don’t notice the “Continue Reading..” links on post, (now made more obvious) if you click it or the post’s Title it will take you to the full post with the rest of the story, photos etc.

Australia’s First Soccer World Cup in 36years, and I happened to be in Germany for it
This is a video from my time there, much of it spent watching the games and drinking Weisbeer with Tim and Gabby! Unfortunately the Ref’s were constantly against us as we had some of the worst decisions and lop-sided calls made in the entire competition, notably ital’ys DIVE obtaining a free kick to steal the match, and the biggest foul difference ever against brazil. Still, Australia made the 2nd round and proved many doubters wrong. GO AUSTRALIA!

Hot Springs, Saunas and Ice Candy. What a great way to escape the cold.
Hajime’s friend Matsu (a drifter) picked us up in his VR4 wagon and drove to Odaiba’s Ooedo Onsen – Kind of a hot spring theme park – doing 160 on the bridge. Nice.
Numerous indoor and outdoor hot springs (natural water dug from way down), alcohol and food on sale, saunas, games and options for massage etc. You couldn’t possibly go back to work after visiting here, its too relaxing. Followed by Kakigori (like a snow cone) and you won’t want to move. I guess thats why they also offer accommodation – And i think it even has Traditional Style rooms, so you can walk through the walls Simpsons’ style!
Odd to think that Sydney was actually hotter on New Year’s Day than the water was! HAH!
U can Keep your 45 degrees!
