They finally released the trailer for The International! This Drama / Thriller directed by Tom Tykwer (Perfume, Run Lola Run) stars Clive Owen and Naomi Watts and will be released in February 2009.
Its my first major film credit, and I spent a good 4 months or more working on it. There’s only a small amount of my work in this trailer so you’ll have to go and see it!
Kellogg’s Special K Snack Bars “Think”
@ Moving Picture Company
# Compositing, Online
# FLAME
Special K Snack bars beat off thoughts of doughnuts and cookies! The thought clouds were shot in camera, sometimes in the scene and others on black backing. Rigs were removed so the clouds could be composited and animated freely, with 2D particle trails and 3D food items tracked in.
Audi R8 “Construct” @The Mill # Rotoscoping # FLAME
Both original 2D plates and 3D textures were used to create a slow, time-lapse streak effect of mechanics building the new beautiful Audi R8. I spent 2 weeks rotoscoping to help achieve this effect, as well as clean up.
Its a very nice looking car! and it cracks the 300km/hr mark.
Continuing the “Colour like no other” campaign, with big shoes to fill, the new spot for Sony Bravia had to be big. Using Stop Motion, over 30 real model bunnies were physically animated throughout New York. Time-Lapse footage and CG were later added in post.
Anessa Shiseido, with Ebi Chan @ EYEdentify # Removal / Cleanup, Warping, Detail # After FX, Photoshop
Ebi Chan is THE current model in japan, shes everywhere. Shot with 4 similar actoresses, CGI heads were tracked over to make it seem like there were 5 Ebi Chans (surely a dream for young Japanese guys!). Unfortunately this project was almost finished by the time I started on it.
This shot was edited out and asked for more work to be done incase it was re-inserted, this is where I entered. So I had 3D elements and a render of the existing comp. Mostly adding back detail, clean up etc. In the end they still left it out, oh well. Worse is that I missed the shoot!
The fully finished commercial can bee seen here on you tube.
World Business Satellite, “Opening Title 2007″ @ EYEdentify # 2D Stroke design, FX & Composite with 3D elements # After FX, Photoshop
April is kind of ‘New Year’ in Japan, in terms of School, business etc. World Business Satellite is a news show that has been running for almost 20 years, and shows every day but Sunday. This project was to create their new Intro to be used for 2007. Loops were also created for use in the studio. I also met the Anchor woman for the show, and she went to school in Melbourne when she was a kid!
–They have recently Started using the “summer” HD Loop also generated–
“World Cup 2006, by Pete” # Edit, Title Design, Sound Re-mix # Avid Express, After FX, Photoshop
Australia’s First Soccer World Cup in 36years, and I happened to be in Germany for it This is a video from my time there, much of it spent watching the games and drinking Weisbeer with Tim and Gabby! Unfortunately the Ref’s were constantly against us as we had some of the worst decisions and lop-sided calls made in the entire competition, notably ital’ys DIVE obtaining a free kick to steal the match, and the biggest foul difference ever against brazil. Still, Australia made the 2nd round and proved many doubters wrong. GO AUSTRALIA!
McCains, “Chips Glorious Chips” @ Rushes & The Mill [ London, UK ] # Rotoscoping, Matte Painting # Flame, Combustion
Getting the rights to use the tune of Oliver’s “Food Glorious Food”, this TVC was part of a massive campaign for McCains Chips. Directed by Michael Gracey of Babyfoot across 2 Major post houses in London, this 60second Musical Bonanza is comprised of 3 seperate sets, multiple takes and many layers in each scene. All shot on the set without Green Screen, Rotoscoping and Matte Painting was used to seemlessly blend all the elements together into one continuous sequence.
