My Right Leg

my right leg

No, I haven’t made a parody film about using my right leg to paint, drive a car, play the piano or shoot a machine gun. This is simply to show what has happened to My Right Leg in the last few days.

Trampled by a horse, getting a “Vietnamese Tattoo” (aka burned by a motor bike – everyone I know who rode a moto in Vietnam got one at some point!) and bashing my shin inside the Cu Chi tunnels, (yes I am unco, but these tunnels were made for 4 foot Vietnamese, not a 6′1″ lanky bastard such as myself).

I’m starting to think my right leg is accident prone. No not me, just the leg. It already had 2 scars. The damage from the horse has totally healed now, but it seems the remainder of the burn is permant, just like a real tattoo. So now my right leg looks like the victim of a an Alien experiment gone wrong..Maybe its time to just cut my losses….Literally…. I can hop…kinda….

+1 Skill: Sewing

Ahh the little skills you learn while traveling; How to order a drink in 12 languages, how to clean an entire load of washing in the bathroom sink, the ability to sleep through anything, and now sewing. Well sort of.

My Jeans were looking a little worse-for-wear, so I took faith in a £1 sewing kit. My previous sewing experience consists of threading needles for mum, and finding (read: stepping on) all the pins she left around the house. But if Phil can worm his way past Star City’s ‘no ripped jean’ policy with a kit from 7-11, surely I can fix these little holes.

About 2 hours and 12 meters of string later, my jeans were “patched”. I wouldn’t start sending me measurements for your next formal outfit, but at least you can’t see what colour underpants I’m wearing anymore. It will probably all come undone once I wash them, but thats a long way off (another backpacker skill).

Those kids in China must have loads of fun. I know you all want to see my handy work, so here it is.

Jeans = Fixed

Heath Ledger has been found dead in a New York apartment. Jan 22, 2008.

Heath was a bit of a champion. Born in Perth, Australia, April 4, 1929. A true Aussie. He starred in “Two Hands” (quality), “10 Things I hate about you” (which I have probably seen 10 times), “The Patriot”, “A Knights Tale” (Awesome), “Brokeback Mountain”, among others. He was even in “Home and Away” back in the day.

He also plays the Joker in the soon-to-be-released “The Dark Knight”, the next tale in the Batman Saga, which I am very keen to see.

I very briefly met Heath while working on the video clip for NFA’s “Seduction is Evil” track, which he directed.

I’m not writing anything about the cause etc, just a simple RIP.

Well we’ve hit 2007.

New year is often the start of changes, so why not start with a change in blog!  My 2006 scrapbook was great for last year, but I was after something easier and more useful this year. I concluded the range of free bloggers are quite crap for heavy customising, especially myspace (it’s horrible). So I’ve hacked up this barnz-esque style theme on Wordpress – one of the more impressive blogging tools.

Basically I’ve returned to Nippon for 2007 in hope of work, adventure, udon and many glasses of Lemon Sour and Peach Fizz. So while I won’t be hitting new countries quite-so-often I figure I might still have something worth writing about and even throwing up the occasional photo. There’s practically a festival every week here and hey if JTV (Japaese TV which I will frequently refer to) has taught us anything it’s that Japan=Crazy Times.

So read up, comment, use the increasing list of usefull/useless tools on the right, and let me know what’s goin on in ya hometown.

Ohyeah, where possible im gonna be trying to write as much in Japanese as I can.. In theory the amount will increase throughout the year….In theory…

あけましておめでとうございます!

今年は日本帰り に しごと さがして や うどん や レーモンサウア や ピーチュ フィズ!

享年の ブログ いい、 でも 今年はこの ブログ。

がんばる!
