After the bus, the ferry got in to Corfu around 7:30am, and we waited for a few more people before fitting again 6ppl in to a car and driving back to the Pink Palace, where we had to take our Ouzo shot at check in haha. But it was Wednesday, and that means…TOGA night! We all Continue Reading…
After getting off the bus we jumped on the train and headed to Athens Backpackers Hostel. Quite large rooms with little balconies looking to the street, small bar downstairs where we went to sleep for a few hours because we couldn’t check in yet, people just walked around us going to breakfast, we then found the upstairs lounge directly above with comfy sofas, a projector screen, speakers etc! Good place to meet people, have a drink etc. Close to the station and some of the attractions are within walking distance. Internet was OK but the computers were ancient! They also run tours etc from there.
Now Athens may appeal to some, Continue Reading…

Part of the check in procedure at The Pink Palace, is a shot of Ouzo. They don’t give you your room keys until you have done it, even when its early morning haha
Our room looked over mountains, beach, and QUAD BIKES.
Yes, the ultimate form of transport. On the form “Do you have a licence?” Yep, just tick the box, no actual number required. We went on the Quad Safari to a secluded beach, mountains, lookouts etc. AWESOME
That night began the first of many Drinking Games, followed by Continue Reading…

The Pink Palace Hotel, Corfu. It’s a legend amongst backpackers who have escaped to tell the tale. I say escape, because once you get there you may never want to leave, note the first of the 10 Lies listed below. This hostel/hotel is run by “Dr. George”, split over a few buildings in the middle of paradise next to the beach on Corfu. In peak season, they hold over 600 people! Breaking out tents, fold outs, whatever they can and never turn someone away. We were past peak season, but it still had around 60 odd people.
They run events every night, like TOGA night: wear toga’s, get a plate smashed on your head, and party down with cocktails and ouzo. It is simply a party in paradise and everyone is in the mood to boogie.
* I’m only staying one night.
* I know how to ride a four wheeler.
* I’m never drinking ouzo again.
* I’m getting up early tomorrow.
* Someone else is in my bed; can I sleep with you tonight?
* I have a boyfriend back home.
* What, do you think I do this with every girl? You’re special to me.
* I just want to kiss you. You can keep your clothes on.
* Of course I remember your name.
* No, really I’m leaving tomorrow.

This is what happens when two of the most laid-back, likes-to-sleep in, un-phased, and un-planned travelers decide to take a trip together.
Pete: Hey man, lets go somewhere
Phil: Yeah cool. How bout the Greek Islands or some shit?
Pete: Yeah alright, we leave in 3 weeks.
Phil: I have no money
Pete: I don’t care
Phil: Righto
Pete: Shit, we should leave in 5min
Phil: OK
Pete: Want some more toast?
Phil: Yeah alright
Airport Chic: I’m afraid you’ve missed your check-in
Us: Ohh no (depressed)
Chic: We can get you on another one
Us: Ohh cool (optimistic)
Chic: For £65 each
Us: Ohh shit… (Depressed)
Chic: Here you go
Us: Thanks (Over it)![]()
Greek Security (George): What is your name?
Phil: Phil Hassan
George: “Ha-saahn”?
Phil: Phil Hassan, “Hass-en” (no buddy I’m not a terrorist)
George: “Ha-saan”. From Australia?
Phil: Yes. Phil Hassan, I’m Australian
George: hmmm..
Pete: (WTF is Phil doing?)
Phil: (come on buddy)
George: hmm.. OK thank you Mr Ha-saan
Phil: Yeah thanks mate
And thus begins Phil & Pete’s Greek Adventures
