The Punch Tavern held a fundraiser night to help out those affected by the recent bushfires in Victoria, Australia.
With an entry fee, raffles, and some great items auctioned off including a Fullham Jersey worn and signed by champion Australian Socceroos Goal Keeper, Mark Schwarzer, on the day of the event, Over £5000 was raised! And thats not including the 10% of all drinks sold that night.
If you want to help visit The Red Cross website to find out how.
I abandoned plans to go to Waxy Oconnor’s as I heard there was a private party, and went to what is probably the most Australian place in London, Walkabout at Shepherds Bush. Walkabout is a notorious chain of Australian pubs, known to be a bit mad at the best of times, any day of the week. While Shepherds Bush is commonly known as THE place for Aussies to live in London. So combining the two with Australia Day, it was going to be special!
We arrived a bit late, about 4.30pm (most non-Aussies were shocked at how early this was), and it was already packed inside. A live Cover Band was playing loads of Aussie tunes, with a DJ filling in breaks. Everyone knew all the songs, but in true Aussie style only actually knew the chorus to each one. Even when the played the Australian Anthem it was only the first verse.
I went with my house mate and a few Japanese friends (nice introduction to real Australia for them!
), and met many Aussies of course.
VB, Fosters, Bundy Rum, Toohey’s etc were all available. The place was so busy people were just dropping their glasses when they finished their drink, walking on more glass than floor! But very happy and friendly vibe!
Great fun.
GO AUSTRALIA!
Leaving Santiago I had 18hrs of fun getting back home to Sydney. And due to time zones I lost a full day. oh well.
Yes, I’m back home!
What an amazing year.
here is an idea of what my last year has included:
14 Countries

22 Flights
10 Forms of Transport
08 Local Alcoholic Drinks
12 Hostels
03 Jobs
Numerous “World’s biggest/best/most etc.”
LOADS of friends and memories.
Thanks and greetings to everyone I met and no doubt we’ll meet again somewhere in the world!
But where will I be in 2007??
TBC…..
This is the countries I’ve visited, not only this year but in 04 as well.

Bullshit.
We all know thats the only way to describe Australia’s exit from the World cup, as World Champs, of diving, drama, crying, and general pussies Italy, took a dive with 30″ to spare, giving Totti a free chance to take the game after 90″ came up with 0-0. Australia deserved so much better. If to lose, then to a team that deserved it by playing better and scoring within game play, not by diving. Thats it. No more on that topic.

Off to Stuttgart for the Australia V Croatia Match. Apparently Stuttgart is the biggest Croatian city outside of Croatia! And we could tell as we were clearly out numbered about 10-1 at the Fan Fest. Also a note about the fountain, it was circled by port-a-loos, apparently because during a match some Holland Fans died it orange!

So we’re having breakfast a couple days ago, covered in green and gold, and 2 Channel 7 guys started asking us about a live cross to the 6pm news! We told them the only way they would get all the Aussies together at 10am on the day we play Australia, is BEER. FREE BEER. So they booked the pub Continue Reading…
It all started with Gabby coming into Munich. Then joined by my mate Timmy from TAFE, we headed out to see Australia’s first world cup match in 32 years. Never won a match, or even scored a goal. Continue Reading…
