St Patrick’s Day 2010, Toronto

With the number of Irish surrounding me every day and most of my mates here being Irish, St Patrick’s Day was always going to be big, apart from the fact that it’s a Wednesday and I have a job…. At least I did…

Two days ago C.O.R.E. (who I work for) announced bankruptcy (no I had nothing to do with it). This leaves with A: The day off; and B: an extra reason to have a drink!

The weather was beautiful, so we sat on the roof in the sun all afternoon, drinking. There was of course a band of Aussies too. Check out our Vegemite grins! Then someone decided we should climb the adjacent building, and in the general drunken state everyone agreed it was a good idea. So up the fire escape we went and had a good view over Toronto in our local area! We all survived. No injuries surprisingly.
We carried on into the night and it was a pretty good, and crazy, day!

These photos are not only from my camera, so don’t blame me for some of these haha :D

Toronto Paddy Parade

The St Patricks Day Parade in Toronto! It was actually on Sunday before because they can’t close down the city on a week day! But wasn’t a bad turn out. Some funny get ups including people dressed as french footballers with giant hands! The best was this big guy’s dance moves.

Oh, and did you know that the might DELOREAN was built in Belfast?!!

Canada Wins Gold

So Canada has just beaten out the USA to win Olympic Gold in the Men’s (ice) Hockey! That, and recently winning the Women’s Gold, and being in Vancouver, is basically like topping the entire Winter Olympics for Canada.

So straight after the match everyone headed out to the streets to party. Even the emergency services were getting into it, with Fire trucks fllying flags and running sirens to celebrate!

Toronto Motor Show 2010

Well the first car I saw at the Toronto Motor Show was a white Nissan R35 GTR, which I consider pretty much the best car in the world, but it wasn’t all downhill from there. There was an even crazier STILLEN tuned R35 inside! Capable of 0-100 in under 3 seconds :D As well as a bunch of Shelby Cobras, a Chevy Camaro decked in Bumblebee yellow and full Transformers Pack (door runners, badges, mag wheels etc), and a crazy 3-seater supercar called Plethore LC-750 (750 HP, weighs nothing and 0-100 in 2.8!)

Lodas photos below! Continue Reading…

CN Tower, Toronto

I scored 2 free tickets up the CN Tower from a mate at work! So I went with Jess, Mark and Dan for city views and shenanigans.

You get a great view over Toronto, including the harbour and lake. We went late to get dusk and night time in the same viewing. Its actually kind of hard to take decent photos though because of all the lights, both inside and outside the tower.

There are 2 observation decks, and the lower one has glass panels in the floor so you can look directly beneath and walk on it! There’s a bunch of interesting facts involved with the tower too, like people running up the stairs and the world’s longest flying fox.

My tickets also came with a pass for an “attraction” at the Tower. We tried it just to see what it was, and it was the lamest, most unimpressive and useless attraction possible. Remember those shuttle 4D experience things? I think one must have been on fire sale from an 80s fun park, because it had no purpose being in the CN Tower. We followed the journey of a log in a timber factory. Excitement! haha.
