Zombie Hill

So back in Panama City, Ai Leen wanted to re-explore an abandoned military building she previously discovered with her friend Catalina. After quietly sneaking under a “security fence” we walked up the hill towards the old buildings, and managed to get one of only two photos we have together on this entire trip!!

At the top is where it starts to get spooky. There are vultures, all the electrics have been ripped out of the buildings, the grass is all overgrown, and there plenty of empty cages and kennels. Why would the Military have bird cages and so many kennels up here?

Moving around to the building they hadn’t previously explored, it got real creepy! There was a dead Coati (Gato Solo, the cute little furry animals with the tail I pictured earlier) down to nothing but skin and bones, completely removed of flesh and fur. WTF?! What would do that up here? Vultures wouldn’t be so clean and what killed it in the first place? There are Pumas in the area, but this close to the edge of the jungle?

Then we heard a big rustling sound and saw the bamboo trees moving as if something ran past. It wasn’t straight down like something fell, it moved across the ground and in to the distance.

Two doors led INTO the hill, into bunker like rooms under ground. We tried venturing in but without a torch it was very difficult. I kept using the flash on my camera and inching forward but we could only go so far without proper light or we might injure ourselves on holes in the floor and random shit lying about. I was getting visions of ‘I Am Legend’.

From the dark rooms, large creatures running in the trees, a dead animal with its flesh sucked off, empty cages and kennels and the fact it was previously a military compound, I can only come to the conclusion that this was a Zombie Research Base. And with the bunker rooms being a possible cave, we got the f*ck out of there.

But I’d love to go back with a torch. Or even better, a film crew.
