Barcelona

We stayed at one of the Sant Jordi Hostels in Barcelona, and its pretty damn cool. Its quite cheap, enough space, free lockers and internet etc, and good lounge. Most of the staff are Brazilian and they organise parties almost every night of the week along with people from the other Sant Jordi Hostels!
Needless to say Joe and I joined them. First night was a bar and a pub or two and we danced till around 5am.

On Saturday we saw FC Barcelona play Numancia in a revenge match, as Numancia is the only team FCB had lost to this season, and in their first match to boot. At their home ground of Camp Nou, FCB continued their recent form to finish up 4-1! We had great seats behind the nets, but unfortunately FCB scored all their goals in the 2nd half, at the opposite end. The crowd was pretty tame, especially compared to my trip to Maracana! But good fun.

We decided to celebrate Australia day on the Sunday Night, as we were flying back on Monday the 26th, and recruited quite a few members of the hostel. We started with drinking games till we had to leave, and when one of the only 4 Aussies brought out a Flag, I immediately commandeered it and wore it as a cape the entire evening. Along with some sunnies I borrowed from an American. We lead the group to Hogan’s Aussie Pub that we found on La Rambla, but still didn’t find any other Aussies.

I think the Blarney stone may have had some effect, as I’m pretty sure I talked to every single person in the pub that night. Ironically most of them were Irish! Which resulted in my trying out my Irish accent half the night. We moved to another pub called The Traveller’s at some point because a Pome lead us there. We finally got back to the hostel around 4am and watched 300! THIS IS SPARTA!!
