Montreaux, Switzerland

Montreaux is a small, pretty town on the hill by Lake Geneva, and its most notable sight is the Chateu de Chillon, or castle.

We went from Bern on the train. There were lots of markets by the water, and they were setting up for a Jazz Festival starting that night. We walked around to the Chateu, which is a good 40min along the water. It looks quite small as you approach it side on, but is big once you get inside. Technically it is on an island, although connected by bridge only meters to the main land. It has a clear view over the water and could easily spot anything coming back in the day.

They have previously found evidence that suggests a castle was previously built in the same spot and was long destroyed.
