Tochigi

My friend Aiko is from Tochigi, so we joined her and her fiance Masayuki for the Tochigi Hanabi (fireworks and festival). As Masayuki was driving, we went to his family’s house first, and then Aiko’s after. Was very interesting and they are quite different. Masa’s family lives in central Tokyo and is City oriented, while Aiko’s, in the smallish prefecture of Tochigi, are more Country style.

That’s a 911 Carrera 4s Im sitting in below, but it was a Subie Masa drove. We joined the festival late afternoon and watched as groups from various parts of Tochigi carried their Mikoshi on their shoulders, chanting, and drinking. Lots of food on offer. The fireworks started around 7.30 and went for almost 1.5 hours, almost non-stop apart from commercial breaks (seriously on the music it ).
Anyways heres a butt-load of photos :)

Keiko's House

Keiko, a good friend of Bao Qin, is getting married soon to Jack, a Swiss guy! Jack is actually friends with Vincent, another Swiss guy who is going out with Tome. They have come back here for their (pre)wedding so we had a bit of a party at her parents place.

PS: Japanese BBQ’s are very different to Aussie ones (yes even a vegetarian can tell.. FYI I cooked Potato burgers)
