Japan has produced some of, if not THE, best tuner cars in the world. Nissan alone has given us the Zseries, s15, and the greatest car ever, the Nissan Skyline, R34. A gentlemen’s agreement on a limit of 280BHP probably helped the aftermarket become so massive in Japan, and so Tokyo Auto Salon is nothing short of awesome.
About 2-3 times the size, and the dominant cars being 350z’s, supras, skylines and more with incredible engine work, it kind of puts shame to our barina-swift-and-mirage loving aussies with typical mods limited to some graffiti on the bonnet and a Milo Upgrade.
The manufacturers also have stands here, and the big name tuners strut their latest beasts and abominations. And videos of crazy drifters taking their 1000HP machines for a run. But of course, 80% of the people there took more photos of the pretty girls than the cars. Guess it’s not so different after all
