For Bao Qin’s birthday (by Western Calendar anyways) we joined a couple from the building on a drive to Atami, with onsen looking out to sea. As you can see from the photo it was very windy! Apprantly on quiter days and low tide you can walk out to that rocky island thing in the distance. But today there was a heavy current in our way! and it was freezing… On the way back we went via a spot which looks directly at Mount Fuji! And at 1000m it was notably colder, with old snow packed around the carpark. I also noticed a guy who’d taken his ferarri for a cruise, taking photos parked at the lookout.

The Tokyo Edo Museum is all about the history and old periods of Tokyo, however the first thing to notice is the very moden building housing it. Along with the only double-escalator I’ve ever seen. This single continuous is so tall that it has a flat section halfway effectively making it a double escaltor! Back in November a group of school kids stacked it when one kid stopped at the bottom - the 40 kids behind jammed up and tumbled down!
Not much else to write about a museum really. It went through the ages of tokyo up to current. Including interesting view of the water levels in Odaiba. No wonder they are building land.

Japan has produced some of, if not THE, best tuner cars in the world. Nissan alone has given us the Zseries, s15, and the greatest car ever, the Nissan Skyline, R34. A gentlemen’s agreement on a limit of 280BHP probably helped the aftermarket become so massive in Japan, and so Tokyo Auto Salon is nothing short of awesome.

Well we’ve hit 2007.
New year is often the start of changes, so why not start with a change in blog! My 2006 scrapbook was great for last year, but I was after something easier and more useful this year. I concluded the range of free bloggers are quite crap for heavy customising, especially myspace (it’s horrible). So I’ve hacked up this barnz-esque style theme on Wordpress - one of the more impressive blogging tools.
Basically I’ve returned to Nippon for 2007 in hope of work, adventure, udon and many glasses of Lemon Sour and Peach Fizz. So while I won’t be hitting new countries quite-so-often I figure I might still have something worth writing about and even throwing up the occasional photo. There’s practically a festival every week here and hey if JTV (Japaese TV which I will frequently refer to) has taught us anything it’s that Japan=Crazy Times.
So read up, comment, use the increasing list of usefull/useless tools on the right, and let me know what’s goin on in ya hometown.
Ohyeah, where possible im gonna be trying to write as much in Japanese as I can.. In theory the amount will increase throughout the year….In theory…
