Everyone kept telling me how nice Kamakura was and I finally had time to go. So Aiko joined me and we headed out of Tokyo. Luckily after lunch the sky was clear and we could check out the huge Daibutsu Statue (you can walk inside!), Temples, Shrines in caves, Arch Pathways and a curious Squirrel that was very close and ready to jump onto us looking for food!
The damn huge Wasps around the Daibutsu seemed to like me though?! A tsunami had destroyed the area where the statue was built but the size of this thing kept it strong and it is quite impressive looking at the construction from the inside. (Unless of course you’re a freaking American tourist who has no idea!! “Wow I paid 10cents to come in here?”)

Theres also tonnes of sweets. Nice.

Mitsubishi Displays 2007, “Modern Dance” Selects
@ Links DigiWorks
#Design, Keying, 2D FX, 3D Compositing
# After FX, Photoshop

Mitsubishi Displays needed to show off their new Projection Technology, requiring footage for 5 screens of various resolutions between 2K and 4K, while having to sync with eachother and at times join connecting screens to seemlesly form a larger picture. Based on 4 different styles of dance and music, actors were shot entirely on Green Screen using HD cameras. Style frames and ideas were then used with freedom given to create 2D backgrounds for each actor and screen, and 3D images over the top.
In all, over 60,000 frames of HD were keyed, 2D backgrounds generated for all footage and screens, composited together with 3D, and new images rendered - all in a matter of weeks! :) This is a selection from 1 of the 4 dances.

On Saturday it was “spot the gaijin” at Yoyogi Park, as Its not hard to notice 10 foreigners walking through the park, late, looking for a place to sit. Our group however was about half Japanese
Stocked up with a couple of 100¥ sheets, too much food and a decent amount of booze, we spent the afternoon chilling out and drinking and listening to the DJ playin in the park! I attempted to retrieve a ball stuck in a tree, but some how my climbing ability was dropped down a notch. Again I came to the conclusion Chu-Hi is bad. Even after a couple it makes you feel like you’ve had 10 rounds of sumo. Great when you have a 36hour shift about to start! ;)

Dunno who half these people are..And some people lighting candles to continue the night in the park. And a bunch of business looking guys planning a big night, with boxes of alcohol sitting in the middle.
Strangely, many of my photos around this time came out blury?? Must have been the camera… :D
