Went to the Tokyo Government building in Shinjuku which has a free lookout up top with a great view over Tokyo.
The old question came up, either go out early and make the last train, or late and stay out till the 5am first train.
Today me, Andrea the Italian ‘pappa’ , Christoff the all-purpose Swiss, and Shahab the crazy Swede, took the latter option.
Heading to Shibuya before midnight, we found a small, old-school bar. A single beer tap and vynal deck, playing cool music and a projector with dodgy 60s soft-core ‘dancing’ videos. We were the only customers until the bar tenders’ mate later entered and immediately was shocked “oh, gaijin!”.
Later we hit Xanadu, which I was a bit wary of at first, but it was really cool, with music ranging from RNB, to electro, dance and rock. We danced away with a few locals till 5am before hitting the train. I also met Bao Qin, a Chinese girl who has been living in Japan for 5 years and speaks fluent Japanese!

Yeah G’day n’ stuff.
Howyazgoin!? Yaz chuck some shit on the barbie and throw back a couple?
Me and Evet (Yvette) took German party girl Kathrin to Aussie pub ‘Club House’, and got a “hey mate” as soon as we walked in.
Missed the bloody food (like Vego-sambos), but they had Aussie piss (alcohol) on hand. Ditchin’ beer as norm, I downed a Bundy Coke to keep with the theme. Music was Aussie drinking songs.
1st Photo Yvette is on the left, Kathrin the right. The Flag photo is just after Kathrin dropped the beer, true Aussie style.
The wide photo doesn’t look it, but it was actually choccas (full) with Aussies
One girl was showing real Aussie pride and rep’n the country in style, pissed off her tits (drunk) and dancing on the tables.
BTW, even in Japan you can get Vegemite, TimTams, Milo etc (for a premium!) – TOPS!

So home around, 11pm, cook dinner then straight out to Shinjuku. Walking home around 2.30 it started to snow! First snow in Tokyo in a long time.
BUT at 3.30 am I headed for REAL snow! A few work people Continue Reading…

We (me and my house mates) headed off early for sumo! Checking it out early we just got tickets, then made our way to Asakusa before returning for the main matches.
Asakusa has very busy markets leading towards Senso-Ji (temple) and, being the weekend, was fairly crowded. Walking back we passed the giant golden turd of the Asahi bulding (an alchol company, its supposed to represent the froth of a beer).
And how cool are these BanDai statues! There were about 8 lined up, this mech dude is awesome!
Doraemon (The Giant Blur Cat) recently had a new voice actor and it freaked everyone out!
Back to sumo, Continue Reading…

Tokyo Auto Salon. Massive.
After running into some US Navy dudes on way to the show, they insisted on sharing their Chu-Hi (think UDL) and being semi pissed first. I obliged.
TAS is about 2-3 times bigger than SAS (Sydney Auto Salon), and 500 X better. Instead of ‘84 Corollas with standard Milo Kit, there were plenty of modded 350’s, NSXs, Skylines, Tuning houses as well as the big J Car Companies like Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi etc. And the girls aren’t dragged there, they actually have an interest in the cars!
Unfortunately we missed most of the free shit but had fun and by the time I got home all I’d had since breakfast was alcohol.
How cool is Michelin man! (or Mr Pop’n Fresh!) And of course, the one thing that had more interest than the cars, the car girls

I Got a job with LDW (Links Digi Works)! Will be a good chance to practice my Japanese too
Went to Hajime’s for a send off lunch before he flees back to Sydney, and there was more food than an Italian wedding! Sugoi! (awesome).
Yvette (Av’s sister) arrived on Thursday, and she’s also quit her job at an agency in Sydney and heading off around the world! Similar countries too – small world!
I Went to a bar in Shinjuku and ended up staying very late with 2 girls who missed the last train (even though I could walk home).

Hot Springs, Saunas and Ice Candy. What a great way to escape the cold.
Hajime’s friend Matsu (a drifter) picked us up in his VR4 wagon and drove to Odaiba’s Ooedo Onsen – Kind of a hot spring theme park – doing 160 on the bridge. Nice.
Numerous indoor and outdoor hot springs (natural water dug from way down), alcohol and food on sale, saunas, games and options for massage etc. You couldn’t possibly go back to work after visiting here, its too relaxing. Followed by Kakigori (like a snow cone) and you won’t want to move. I guess thats why they also offer accommodation – And i think it even has Traditional Style rooms, so you can walk through the walls Simpsons’ style!
Odd to think that Sydney was actually hotter on New Year’s Day than the water was! HAH!
U can Keep your 45 degrees!
